How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in California?

For most personal injury lawsuits, the deadline is 2 years from the date of injury (CCP § 335.1). Property damage claims generally have 3 years. If a government entity is involved, a claim must usually be filed within 6 months. There are exceptions, so get advice early.

How much does it cost to talk to you?

The case review is free. We work on a contingency fee: no fee unless we recover for you. Clients may be responsible for case costs depending on the fee agreement; fees and costs are set out in a written contingency agreement.

What if I was partly at fault?

California uses pure comparative fault. You may still recover damages, reduced by your percentage of fault.

Who pays if I was hurt in an Uber or Lyft?

It depends on the driver's app status. During an accepted ride, California requires $1 million in rideshare liability coverage. Other periods have different coverage. Uninsured/underinsured rules for rideshare changed on January 1, 2026.

What if the driver fled or had no insurance?

Your own uninsured motorist coverage may apply. For hit-and-run UM claims, report the crash to police within 24 hours and to your insurer within 30 days.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance adjuster?

You may want to get advice before giving a recorded statement or signing anything. Early settlement offers may not reflect future medical needs.

Do I need to see a doctor if I feel fine?

That decision is between you and your medical providers. Many people get checked after a crash because some injuries take time to show up. Keep records of any visits.

Does submitting the form make you my lawyer?

No. Submitting the form does not create an attorney-client relationship. That only happens after a signed written agreement.

How much is my case worth?

No one can honestly promise a result. Value depends on liability, insurance coverage, how serious the injuries are, and the treatment received. An attorney can go over your specific facts.
